How Will Heaven Mitigate Our Suffering on Earth?

The troubles of this world shrink to nothing when compared to eternity with God. Paul said, "We do not lose heart. For this slight, momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison. For we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal" (2 Cor. 4:16-18).

Mother Teresa said, “In light of heaven, the worst suffering on earth, a life full of the most atrocious tortures on earth, will be seen to be no more serious than one night in an inconvenient hotel.” I am sure we can agree she knew what she was talking about!

And finally, William Lane Craig had this to say: "In the afterlife God will reward those who have borne their suffering in courage and trust with an eternal life of unspeakable joy… Moreover, the longer we spend in eternity, the more the sufferings of this life shrink toward an infinitesimal moment. And that's why Paul could refer to them as a 'slight' and 'momentary' affliction. Despite what he suffered, his sufferings were simply overwhelmed by the ocean of divine eternity and joy which God lavishes upon those who trust him." It is obvious the troubles of the world will trouble us no more once we have departed.

We will be co-rulers with Christ! Luke 12:32 says, “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Scripture is replete with verses testifying to the fact that we will reign with Christ and judge the world (Dan. 7:18, 27; Luke 12:32, 42, 19:17; Rev. 2:26, 29; 1 Cor, 6:2; Mat. 12:41).

We will be made complete, lacking nothing, and fully redeemed. We will never suffer disease, death or heartache. Most importantly, we will be in the presence of God, communing with Him forever and ever in unbroken relationship.
